Gilbert Avenue Playing Fields, Tuxford

Tuxford is a historic market town and a civil parish in the Bassetlaw district of Nottinghamshire, England. With a population of 2,809, the quaint town was once a hub for travellers and boasting four railway stations. Today, the peaceful town is a great tourist destination thanks to its various independent shops and attractions.

Thanks to a £50,000 grant from the Rural England Prosperity Fund, Tuxford Town Council created a new outdoor gym at the Gilbert Avenue playing fields.

The Integr8 multi-gym includes a double health walker, double slalom skier, sky stepper, horse rider, Tai Chi Discs, and an Arm Bike that allows up to 8 people to exercise together, maximising our concept of ‘fitness for everybody’, no matter ability or body size.

The Sthenos Rig features ten components, balancing traditional gym equipment exercises, callisthenics, and bodyweight resistance exercises.

One of our Inclusive Multi Gyms was also included in the project. It is accessible from all four sides and is great for wheelchair users who experience lower body mobility.

The new equipment set was installed on grass, with added matting to prevent erosion and protect from foot traffic.

Cllr Julie Leigh, Cabinet Member for Identity and Place said: "Rural England Prosperity Fund grants are great news for our communities and businesses in rural areas of Bassetlaw. It provides welcome funding to support them in their efforts to improve facilities for our residents and to help businesses with their growth ambitions."
